I., M.Ag. abstract: The Ba'da Kupat tradition is a tradition that exists in Javanese Islamic society, especially in Sindangheula village, Cilacap district. The Ba'da Kupat tradition is an annual tradition that is routinely carried out by the community in Sindangheula village, this tradition has been passed down from the ancestors of Sindangheula village, and has been integrated into the lives of the people of Sindangheula village. In the discipline of anthropology, tradition is a research object that will never run out to be studied, especially the view that tradition is a text or symbol or sign that has a reference to a particular purpose. Ba'da Kupat tradition as a sign raises a question about the symbolization of Javanese culture through a sign. Thus, Ba'da Kupat tradition as a sign or cultural symbol is a medium for certain views in Javanese culture. Based on this background, the problem formulation of this research is how Ferdinan de Saussure's semiotic analysis of the symbols of Ba'da Kupat Tradition in Malabar Village Wanareja Cilacap Regency. The purpose of this research is to analyze Ferdinan de Saussure's semiotic theory of the symbols of the Ba'da Kupat Tradition in Malabar Wanareja Village, Cilacap Regency. The method the author uses is field research with data collection through observation and interviews. The data sources used are informants both those involved and those considered to understand the tradition, namely community leaders and books that support the research. While the data analysis method uses qualitative methods and phenomenology. The results of the study found that the Ba'da Kupat Tradition in Malabar Village Wanareja Cilacap Regency is one of the processes of the community in believing and carrying out a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. the meanings that have been forgotten in this tradition are trying to be raised so that people can better understand the meaning of the Ba'da Kupat Tradition which actually has a lot of deep meanings, as if we can explore and understand these meanings then we can form a better personality. Signs and markers that exist in the rituals of the tradition, such as almsgiving with the intention of rejecting bad luck which is carried out together so as to increase friendship and cohesiveness between the people of Malabar Village Wanareja Cilacap Regency. In the process, there are various materials and equipment used, namely: ketupat, fragrance / kemenyan, red and white porridge, and young coconut water.
