%X The rapid development of information and communication
technology has a positive impact on life, but negative impacts cannot
be avoided, such as the rise of cyberbullying behavior. Cyberbullying
primarily impacts the psychology of the victim as well as the
perpetrator. This research aims to empirically test whether the
madrasah climate and Islamic personality play a role in reducing the
rate of cyberbullying behavior among State Madrasah Aliyah (MAN)
students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY).
This research uses a dual-method approach, namely quantitative
methods and qualitative methods. Quantitative data was obtained
through psychological scales adapted from previously existing scales
that have high validity and reliability. Qualitative data was obtained
through: interviews, observations, and focus group discussions (FGD).
Quantitative research respondents were students from 10 State
Madrasahs Aliyah (MAN) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY),
totaling 330 people. The qualitative research subjects were madrasah
heads, teachers, and 67 students from 3 State Madrasahs Aliyah
(MAN) in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Quantitative data
was analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the help
of the SmartPLS 3.0 program. Qualitative data was analyzed using
flow model qualitative analysis.
The research findings are: First, the madrasa climate and Islamic
personality play a direct and significant role in reducing cyberbullying
among 10 State Madrasahs Aliyah (MAN) students in the Special
Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). Second, the madrasa climate directly
and significantly improves the Islamic personality of 10 State
Madrasahs Aliyah (MAN) students in the Special Region of
Yogyakarta (DIY). Third, Islamic personality plays a mediating role
in the relationship between madrasah climate and cyberbullying.
Fourth, 10 State Madrasahs Aliyah (MAN) students in the Special
Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) carry out cyberbullying behavior, which
is driven by 10 reasons that come from within and outside themselves.
Fifth, the form of strengthening the madrasah climate is carried out
xvi
through increasing student involvement in madrasah activities,
empowering students to improve their abilities, increasing equality,
and designing a safe and enjoyable environment. Sixth, the form of
strengthening the Islamic personality of 10 State Madrasahs Aliyah
(MAN) students in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is carried
out through education, habituation, creating a good environment, and
encouraging and motivating them to always be consistent with various
Islamic activities. Building a madrasah climate and strengthening
Islamic personality are carried out together in a program known as
character education. The findings of this research have practical
implications that madrasah climate and Islamic personality can be
used as a program to reduce cyberbullying behavior. The conceptual
implication of this research is that a conducive madrasah climate has
the impact of strengthening the Islamic personality, and together it
reduces cyberbullying behavior so that it can become a reference for
policymakers in making policies to make improvements in madrasas
and schools.
