Fil. I., M.S.I. abstract: The presence of the Syattariyyah order within the cultural landscape of society often sparks debate. Some view it as a compromising practice, while others see it as a legitimate form of religious expression. The primary issue is the acculturation process involving cultural practices in Ulakan influenced by the Syattariyyah order, which affects the authenticity of local culture in Ulakan. This raises questions about the uniqueness and contributions of the Syattariyyah order in shaping Ulakan's culture. This research employs qualitative methods to delve deeper into the practices of the Syattariyyah order in Ulakan and how the acculturation of adat (customs) and tasawwuf (Sufism) impacts Ulakan's culture. Through surveys and behavioral observations, this study aims to provide a detailed depiction of this order. The findings indicate that the Syattariyyah order continues to thrive, attracting followers from diverse backgrounds. Followers are required to comprehend the attributes of Allah and remain loyal to their murshid (spiritual guide) during the initiation process. In the Syattariyyah order, there are no restrictions on studying tasawuf; however, the murshid has the authority to determine if a disciple is worthy of becoming a khalifah (successor). Additionally, adherents of this order maintain local traditions, such as the Maulid celebrations, which include the practices of balamang, bungo lado, and mandoa sambareh as forms of reverence to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This research reveals how the Syattariyyah order acculturates with the local culture of Ulakan. The influence of this order is evident in shaping the traditional practices of Ulakan society, creating a unique religious identity by integrating Sufi values and local culture. date: 2024-07-02 date_type: published pages: 104 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS USHULUDDIN DAN PEMIKIRAN ISLAM thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Ibrahim Aditra, NIM.: 19105010058 (2024) AKULTURASI ADAT DAN TASAWUF DI MINANGKABAU (STUDI KASUS TAREKAT SYATTARIYAH DI ULAKAN).
