The neglect of the discourse of the meaning of the pieces of letters at the beginning of the surah is limited to the linguistic meaning of the text. The tendency of the study of the muqat{\d t}a'ah verse which relates the combined function between pieces of letters, the construction of symbols in the Qur'an, and the function of context as a source of meaning in the pre-modern era is ignored by the mufassir. al-Razi reveals himself as a pre-modern mufassir who functions the context as a source of meaning. This research shows the revitalization of the discourse context of the meaning of the muqat{\d t}a'ah verse by presenting the historicity of the muqat{\d t}a'ah verse symbol through the book of Maf{\=a}ti{\d h} al-Ghaib. The theoretical framework applied by the author in tracking the complexity of discourse ideas in the book of Maf{\=a}ti{\d h} al-Ghaib is N. Fairclough's critical discourse analysis. The results of the theoretical framework lead to two conclusions. First, the form of discourse practice on the relationship between muqat{\d t}a'ah and the word that follows it produces five trends in meaning. Five aspects of meaning are displayed with various function mechanisms, including; muqat{\d t}a'ah letters as books; muqat{\d t}a'ah letters as a symbol of the revelation process of the Qur'an; muqat{\d t}a'ah letters as pointing words (ism isyarah); muqat{\d t}a'ah letters as pronouns (ism dhamir); and muqat{\d t}a'ah letters as a symbol of an event that represents the text. This claim is proven through the grammatical function of language in the form of a comparison of the term muqat{\d t}a'ah with the verse after it in the form of mentioning the book, revelation, or al-Qur'an. Thus, the pattern of the Qur'anic verse arrangement that opens with the letters muqat{\d t}a'ah leads to the affirmation of the Qur'anic entity as revelation. Second, the dimension of discourse practice on the letters of muqat{\d t}a'ah in the book of Maf{\=a}ti{\d h} al-Ghaib is formed through the process of intertextuality of al-Razi's horizon with the historical horizon of discourse. The discourse of the muqat{\d t}a'ah letters produced is still in the cognitive dimension of al-Razi as an adherent of Asy'ariyah. In linguistic structure, the interpretation of the combined symbol of the letters muqat{\d t}a'ah has been represented by al-Razi objectively by linking the next word (syntagmatic). However, in paradigmatic relations, the discourse of the letters muqat{\d t}a'ah is presented by al-Razi subjectively by prioritizing God's authority in his revelatory reasoning. The tendency of al-Razi in interpreting the muqat{\d t}a'ah verse by relating it to the context shows that the meaning of this verse is not only limited to its esoteric dimension, but the realization of meaning in its literal form.} }
