The empty leadership seat tends to cloud the eyes. Many parties want to occupy the seat in order to gain power afterwards. From there there was a struggle between the Muhajirun party which included Abu Bakr, Umar and. Outside the city of Medina, where the quarrel over who was entitled to the leadership seat occurred rebellions with various motives. The main reason for the emergence of the rebellion came from the reluctance of people to pay zakat and the emergence of false prophets. Everything could be resolved when Abu Bakr became Caliph and crushed the rebellions. The author sees that the incident is full of political-philosophical meanings that can be learned from. In order to reveal the incident, the author uses Thomas Hobbes' social contract theory. In this theory there are concepts such as the state of nature which provides an explanation of the pre-political natural state of humans. State of war, which is an explanation of the tendency of humans to be arrogant and never satisfied causing them to be in the flames of endless war. Law of nature, where in this concept nature provides a way out for humans from a state of war by contracting with each individual among them. And finally an explanation of Hobbes' social contract, which contains individuals who contract with each other and delegate the contract to a third party in order to obtain security and peace. The author sees little attempt to investigate the philosophical-political meanings in Islamic history, especially in the early days of the Islamic caliphate. During this period, for the first time, the leader of the people was not the Prophet Muhammad. By using historical reading materials from primary sources such as Thabari and also using Hobbes' social contract theory contained in Leviathan. The author investigated this incident and concluded that the appointment of Abu Bakr as Caliph was an activity with democratic meanings in it. Furthermore, the rebellions that occurred around the Arabian Peninsula were due to the natural human nature of thirsting for power. The author concludes that an atmosphere without leadership, even if it is for a short time, tends to make people release the bad qualities that are hidden within them.
