The Wetu Telu Bayan community is often misunderstood by outsiders as syncretic Islam, with practices such as praying three times a day, and seen as a deviation needing correction. Wetu Telu is associated with a way of life strongly adhering to ancestral customs. This research contributes to the study of the wetu telu Islamic cultural phenomenon in an effort to manage stigma, specifically providing criticism of previous research. This research uses an Ethnographic study approach to explore the factors and motivations to fight stigma and discrimination against wetu telu indigenous peoples in the flow of change. The research findings indicate that prolonged negative stigma has a significant impact on the younger generation of Wetu Telu. Their efforts to overcome this stigma involve the reinterpretation of the Wetu Telu concept and the application of the sesepen philosophy as a cultural tool to raise broader public awareness. Sesepen is a profound philosophy of life, understood through an intensive search for meaning. The research also reveals that the ritual practices of the Wetu Telu community remain consistent without significant changes, despite shifts in economic aspects such as agriculture and textile production. These findings highlight the contribution of the sesepen philosophy in maintaining cultural identity and addressing stigma, while providing insights into how indigenous communities can manage change while preserving their traditions. %Z Pembimbing: Najib Kailani, S.Fill.I., M.A., Ph.D
