N2  - The understanding of the Qur'an as a syifa? or medicine is the result of the idea Muslims thinking about the content of the Qur'an verses also the practice of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, than that understanding widened, by using the Qur'an as a jimat to protecting own self, the arrival of sustenance easily, even meeting a soul mate. However, the practice of using Qur'anic jimat triggers other problems that was guessed a person to associate with Allah, by hanging all hopes on objects containing Qur'anic verses and denigrating the Qur'an. The academic problem that comes to the surface is how the law of using Qur'anic verses as jimat. To answer this question, this study analyzes how the respon of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama Banyuwangi figures to the issue of using Qur'anic verses as jimat. Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama Banyuwangi figures were chosen because they are considered to have a strong role of fatwa institutions in Indonesia and Banyuwangi is a city that has its own uniqueness in the practice of Qur'anic as jimat by the existence of a special organization, namely the Nusantara Quack Association. Based on the above issues, this research proposes a problem formulation. First, how the use of Qur'anic verses as jimat according to the views of Muhammadiyah and Nahdlatul Ulama Banyuwangi figures. Second, how the opinion is analyzed through the theory of az-zariah. 
This research is a combined research consisting of field research and qualitative literature research with a juridical-empirical approach. The analysis technique used is using the theory of az-zariah. 
Based on the data that has been collected and analyzed, this research produces several findings. First, Muhammdiyah figures do not allow the use of Qur'anic verseas jimat to associate with Allah and degrading the Qur'an easily. While Nahdlatul Ulama figures allow the use of of the Qur'an verse as jimat was seen of having maslahat, like replacing the position of jahiliyyah jimat and changing their beliefs while still believing in Allah, jimat is just a wasilah. Second, the opinion of Muhammadiyah figures is included in the part of az-zari'ah, namely sadd az-zariah. While the opinion of Nahdlatul Ulama figures is a part of az-zariah, namely fath az-zariah.
