"The purpose of this research is to 1) know the condition of students' interest in\r\nreading at SDN 2 Cintabodas Tasikmalaya, 2) know the role of teachers in\r\nincreasing students' interest in reading at SDN 2 Cintabodas Tasikmalaya, 3) the\r\nobstacles of teachers in increasing students' interest in reading at SDN 2\r\nCintabodas Tasikmalaya. This research was prepared using descriptive\r\nqualitative research methods. Data collection techniques used in this research\r\nthrough interview techniques, observation and documentation. The data validity\r\ntest uses triangulation of sources and techniques, and membercheck. The data\r\nanalysis techniques used are data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion\r\ndrawing or verification. The results of this study indicate that 1) students' interest\r\nin reading at SDN 2 Cintabodas Tasikmalaya is still low, 2) the role of teachers in\r\nincreasing students' interest in reading at SDN 2 Cintabodas Tasikmalaya\r\nincludes being a corrector, inspirer, informator, motivator, initiator, facilitator,\r\nand guide, and 3) the obstacles of teachers in increasing students' interest in\r\nreading at SDN 2 Cintabodas, including: there are no written rules regarding the\r\nliteracy movement programme, reading activities or programmes are still lacking,\r\nthe library is less attractive, the books available in the library are not adequate\r\nand are old collections. The suggestions given are that the school can apply for\r\nassistance from the government to help complete library facilities and book\r\ncollections, make clear rules and reading habituation activities in writing, and\r\nutilize existing facilities to foster students' interest in reading"^^ .
