        abstract = {Journal publications are very important because they are used as a means of introducing research results to the research community in the field. Editors have an important role in journals because editors play a role in turning a scientific article into a quality article which will later be published in the journal. This research aims to determine the role of editors in publishing the PAI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta journal. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Data collection in this research used interviews with informants, observations on journal websites and documentation. Meanwhile, data analysis is carried out through the process of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. There were three informants in this study. From the research results, it was concluded that the role of the editor in publishing the PAI UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta journal is first, the editor plays a role in improving the quality of journal publications. To improve the quality of the journal, the editor is responsible for the style and format of the written work, the editor must also implement a process to ensure the quality of the written work published. Apart from that, the editor is also responsible for coordinating with the editor-in-chief and reviewers. Second, the editor's role is to provide a forum for the writer's needs. In this role, the editor will process the manuscript sent by the author so that it is suitable for publication and coordinate with the author. From the activities carried out by the editorial team, there are bound to be obstacles that hinder publication. Obstacles experienced by the editorial team include technical problems and limited professional human resources.}
