This research uses qualitative research methods. This research applies Wilson’s information needs method. Data for this study was collected from 10 (ten) women inmates using semi-structured interviews. The result of this study is that the information needs found in women inmates are found in 3 (three) basic human needs, that are 1) physiological needs related to health; 2) affective needs related to family, news outside prison and general information, security, spirituality, and work or skill in prison; 3) cognitive needs related to law and rights in prison. Affective needs are the information most needed by prisoners even though the informants did not explicitly state it. However, based on the interviews, the majority of the answers are related to the emotional needs of prisoners who do need entertainment, a sense of security, and emotional ties with family. Other factors expressed by Wilson, such as role and environment, did not appear to be significant because they had the same role in the same environment. Then it is related to the information sources used to meet their information needs, 1) non-document sources of information in the form of officers, television, radio, other prisoners, socialization, and family; and 2) document sources of information in the form of books in the library. The most effective source of information in this study is the officer. Because officers are most valid and certain source of information. This study recommends implementing research related to information needs on inmate sources in other prisons to be able to conduct further testing of the findings in this study. This study reveals the need for policy and facility updates on the provision and service on information at Lapas Perempuan Kelas IIB Yogyakarta. date: 2023-11-23 date_type: published pages: 192 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS ADAB DAN ILMU BUDAYA thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Intan Kurniati, NIM.: 19101040108 (2023) KEBUTUHAN INFORMASI NARAPIDANA PEREMPUAN DI LAPAS PEREMPUAN KELAS IIB YOGYAKARTA.
