"Achievement motivation is the inner drive to achieve success, influenced by both\r\ninternal and external factors. One of the external factors from the family\r\nenvironment is parental social support. This study aims to determine the effect of\r\nparental social support on achievement motivation among eighth-grade students\r\nat SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan. This reseach is included quantitative rearch. The\r\nsubjects of the study were 98 students of SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan, the sampling\r\nmethod used was simple random sampling. Device that use to collect data is like\r\nparental social support scale and an achievement motivation. The achievement\r\nmotivation scale was developed by the researcher based on the Achievement\r\nMotivation Theory proposed McClelland (1987) this scale include of 28 items with\r\n5 indicators. Meanwhile, the parental social support scale was developed based\r\non the Parental Social Support Theory proposed by Sarafino (1994). This scale\r\ninclude 25 items with 4 indicators. This research processed with SPSS program\r\nfor Windows. The correlation coefficient was 0,984, which falls into the very high\r\ncategory, showed a p-value of 0,001 < 0,01, indicating a positive relationship\r\nbetween parental social support and achievement motivation among eighth-grade\r\nstudents at SMP Negeri 4 Kalasan. This means that the higher the parental social\r\nsupport, the higher achievement motivation, and conversely, the lower the\r\nparental social support, the lower the achievement motivation"^^ .
