        abstract = {The absence of concise learning media utilizing a multirepresentational approach, particularly on the topic of light and optical instruments, poses a challenge in supporting effective learning. With the flexibility of smartphone usage, developing learning media that leverage this technology is essential to facilitate interactive concept understanding. This study aims to identify the characteristics, quality, and student responses to a multirepresentational pocketbook on light and optical instruments for class VIII SMP/MTs.
This research is a development study (R\&D) using the 4D development model (Define, Design, Develop, Disseminate), limited to the Development stage. The development process included instrument validation, expert evaluation, product revision, and limited trials. The trials were conducted in an MTs Negeri in Sleman Regency, involving eighth-grade students.
The results indicate that the multirepresentational pocketbook is concise, engaging, interactive, and designed in an A6 format for easy portability, presenting concepts in various forms of representation. Based on the expert assessment, this pocket book meets the criteria of 'Very Good' and received an average score of 3.6 with a percentage of 90\%. The evaluation by educators as practitioners also indicated a 'Very Good' result with an average score of 4.00, achieving a percentage of 100\%. Student responses to the pocket book received a 'Agree' criterion with an average score of 0.90 and a percentage of 90\%. The analysis of the obtained data indicates that the pocket book on light and optical instruments is suitable for use in the learning process and can serve as a self-learning resource for students}
