Karwadi, S.Ag, M.Ag abstract: The ability to read and write the Qur'an is a basic competency that every Muslim must have. In fact, many seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine still have low ability in reading and writing the Qur'an. This condition requires a learning strategy that is in accordance with the ability of each student. This study aims to: (1) Review and describe the direct and interactive learning strategies in improving the ability to read and write the Qur'an for seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine, Ngawi Regency. (2) Analyzing and examining the challenges of direct and interactive learning strategies in improving the ability to read and write the Qur'an for seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine, Ngawi Regency. (3) To know and explain the key to the success of direct and interactive learning strategies in improving the ability to read and write the Qur'an of seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 2 Sine. This research uses a pedagogical approach in identifying problems contained in the process of learning activities and finding solutions to problems related to the ability to read and write the Qur'an of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine, Ngawi Regency. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach, namely data obtained through observation, interviews, and document analysis related to learning. Interviews were conducted with the principal, Islamic Religious Education teachers and seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine, Ngawi Regency. Observations were made by directly observing the teaching and learning activities of reading and writing the Qur'an in class VII at SMP Negeri 2 Sine, Ngawi Regency. Documentation in the form of teaching modules, photographs of teaching and learning activities of reading and writing the Qur'an, and other documents at SMP Negeri 2 Sine Ngawi Regency. The results of this study reveal that first, direct and interactive learning strategies in improving the reading and writing of the Qur'an of seventh grade students at SMP Negeri 2 Sine are effective. Direct learning allows students to get direction and guidance in a structured manner, while the interactive approach encourages students' active involvement through discussion, group practice, and direct feedback from the teacher. Secondly, the challenges of direct and interactive learning strategies are the differences in students' ability levels and time constraints.
