The catalysts were prepared using the impregnation method by incorporating nickel metal onto base-activated bentonite with a 2M NaOH solution. Catalyst characterization was performed using FTIR and XRD, while catalytic activity was evaluated through the conversion of citral into cyclic compounds using isopropanol as a solvent and formic acid as a reductant. The results indicate that the base-activated Ni/Bentonite catalyst efficiently converted citral into cyclic compounds, with the compound 1,5,8-p-Menthatriene prominently observed in the first and second reactions. The percentage of 1,5,8-p-Menthatriene produced was 1.07% in the first reaction and 3.88% in the second reaction. The reaction proceeded effectively due to the role of isopropanol as the solvent and formic acid as the reductant. These conditions demonstrated excellent selectivity toward the target product. %Z Priyagung Dhemi Widiakongko, M. Sc
