abstract: Marriage is supposed to be a place of happiness, but in reality it does not guarantee the longevity of the household. It is undeniable that various problems must always be present in every family. If the husband and wife are unable to deal with these problems, it is possible that they will result in disputes that may lead to divorce. Based on the data from the divorce archive of Paron KUA, there were 44 divorce cases that occurred in Semen Village, Paron District, Ngawi Regency from 2021 to 2023. This makes the author interested in studying what are the factors that cause divorce in Semen Village and how the sociology of Islamic law reviews these divorce factors.
This type of research is field research (field research), which is descriptive analysis. The data sources in this research use primary data obtained from interviews with divorce actors in Semen Village, and secondary data obtained from books, articles, laws, scientific works, and other literature related to this research. The data analysis used is qualitative analysis, then the data obtained in the research is analyzed using the sociological approach of Islamic law.
The results showed that 1) There are three factors that cause divorce in Semen Village, Paron Subdistrict, Ngawi Regency from 2021 to 2023, namely economic factors in the form of husbands who cannot make ends meet and poor family financial management, lack of communication intimacy, and domestic violence in the form of psychological violence. 2) The sociology of Islamic law makes an important contribution to minimizing the occurrence of divorce in the household. Through an approach based on Islamic religious values, the phenomenon of divorce can be minimized
