This practice has become a trend among the public, especially women, because it is considered to be able to improve appearance, increase self-confidence, and save time in dressing up. However, the practice of eyebrow embroidery has sparked controversy in Islamic law due to its similarity to tattooing, which is expressly prohibited in the Shari'a, so an understanding of the law of eyebrow embroidery from an Islamic perspective is needed in accordance with the current context. To answer this problem, this research analyzes the views of Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah leaders in Yogyakarta and how the comparative analysis of the two organizational leaders. The two organizations were chosen because both are considered to have a strong role in Islamic organizations in Indonesia. This research is a mixed research consisting of field research and qualitative literature studies with the approach of ushul fiqh science that focuses on shar'i law, extracted from detailed arguments and compared with the opinions of figures from Nahdlatul Ulama and Muhammadiyah in Yogyakarta. The analysis technique used is descriptive-analysis using the theory of qiyās. There are differences of opinion from the leaders of the two mass organizations because they differ in determining the original case. Figures who prohibit using tattoos as the original case of tattoos, while figures who allow using hair coloring or hena as the original case to further determine the similarities and differences. Based on the data that has been collected and analyzed, this research produces several findings. First, the views of Nahdlatul Ulama leaders agree regarding the law of eyebrow embroidery, namely not allowing the practice of eyebrow embroidery for any purpose. Meanwhile, the views of Muhammadiyah figures regarding the law of eyebrow embroidery practice are that two figures allow it and one does not allow it. Second, the opinions of Nahdlatul Ulama and one Muhammadiyah figure forbid the practice of eyebrow embroidery because eyebrow embroidery (far'u) is equated with the case of aṣlu tattoo, while the two Muhammadiyah figures use eyebrow coloring or hena as the original case. The difference is motivated by different aṣlu cases. date: 2024-12-18 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/69289/1/20103060011_BAB-I_IV-atau-V_DAFTAR-PUSTAKA.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/69289/2/20103060011_BAB-II_sampai_SEBELUM-BAB-TERAKHIR.pdf identifier: Indana Zulfa, NIM.: 20103060011 (2024) REALITAS DAN HUKUM PRAKTIK SULAM ALIS (PANDANGAN TOKOH NAHDLATUL ULAMA DAN MUHAMMADIYAH WILAYAH D I YOGYAKARTA).
