"Kulon Progo Regency, located in the Special Region of Yogyakarta Province, is known as an area with abundant natural potential, one of which is the Progo River. This river contains materials such as stone and sand, which have long been utilized by the local community. Initially, the mining process was carried out manually using traditional tools that tended to be environmentally friendly and did not cause major damage. However, along with the development of the era and the entry of modernization, mining methods began to shift to the use of suction tools and heavy equipment, which although more efficient, have a significant impact on the environment. The government has actually set strict regulations prohibiting the use of heavy equipment in mining activities in order to maintain the balance of nature and environmental sustainability. Unfortunately, this policy is often violated by certain individuals, which triggers the rampant practice of illegal sand mining. This phenomenon has caused various negative impacts, ranging from damage to river ecosystems, loss of biodiversity, erosion around mining areas, to damage to road access used for these activities.\r\nThis type of research is empirical juridical with a sociological approach. While the data analysis method used is qualitative analysis. In the data collection method, the compiler uses interview, observation, and documentation methods.\r\nThe research results show that law enforcement against illegal sand mining in Kulon Progo is carried out through an Integrated Team involving various agencies, such as the PUP ESDM Service, Satpol PP, TNI, Polres, and the Environmental Service. This team is tasked with coordinating problems, socializing the importance of environmental conservation, as well as taking action and confiscating equipment from illegal activities. Preventive efforts are carried out through routine patrols and outreach, while repressive measures include firm action and confiscation of equipment. However, in practice it is still not optimal. Lack of public legal awareness, minimal supervision, and a permissive culture towards illegal mining are the main challenges. Economic pressures, complicated licensing processes, and high demand for mining materials further exacerbate the problem, creating major challenges for environmental conservation efforts and consistent law enforcement."^^ .
