"This study focuses on the tradition of Pisuke, a form of monetary or material\r\ngift that constitutes an integral part of the marriage customs of the Sasak\r\ncommunity in Central Lombok. Pisuke is given by the prospective groom to the\r\nbride's family as a symbol of sincerity, respect, and a contribution to the bride's\r\nfamily. This tradition plays a significant role in maintaining social balance but often\r\nposes challenges, particularly regarding the value of Pisuke, which is sometimes\r\nperceived as burdensome for the groom. In the context of Islamic law, Pisuke is not\r\nmandatory; however, the strong influence of tradition has preserved this practice\r\nwithin the Sasak community.\r\nThis research employs field research with a descriptive-analytical\r\napproach. The study utilizes empirical and sociological perspectives to understand\r\nhow this tradition interacts with the social life of the community and contributes to\r\nthe existing social structure. Data collection methods include observation, in-depth\r\ninterviews with community leaders, religious figures, officials from the Office of\r\nReligious Affairs (KUA), and community members directly involved in the Pisuke\r\ntradition, as well as documentation.\r\nThe findings reveal that the Pisuke tradition holds deep significance for the Sasak\r\ncommunity as a symbol of respect, sincerity, and social contribution in marriage.\r\nPisuke is not only seen as a form of traditional dowry but also as an appreciation\r\nfor the role of the bride's family. The value of Pisuke is often adjusted based on the\r\nbride's social status and educational background, though in some cases, its high\r\nvalue can become a barrier for couples intending to marry. The study also found\r\nthat this tradition persists due to the strong influence of local customs within the\r\nSasak community, despite not being required by Islamic law. The community views\r\nPisuke as an essential element in maintaining social harmony and respect for\r\ncultural traditions. However, challenges such as value negotiations often lead to\r\nconflicts or obstacles in the marriage process. Overall, the Pisuke tradition reflects\r\nhow local customs and religion intertwine within the Sasak community. While it\r\nprovides positive social cohesion, there is a need for better management of this\r\ntradition to make it more flexible and less burdensome for the parties involved."^^ .
