The three cooperatives involved in this conversion process are the Pegawai RI Serambi Mekah Islamic Consumers' Cooperative, the Sedar Sejahtera Mandiri Islamic Savings and Financing Cooperative (KSPPS), and and State Vocational High School 2 Islamic Consumers' Cooperative. The conversion process faces key challenges, such as avoiding interest-based transactions in line with Islamic principles and fulfilling repayment commitments made under the conventional system. The various conversion models implemented raise questions about their alignment with Islamic principles, given the fundamental differences between Islamic and conventional transactions. This study aims to explain the implementation of financing and savings contract conversions in these three cooperatives and analyze their compliance with Islamic principles as outlined in fiqh muamalat in general and the Fatwa of DSN-MUI in particular. To examine this issue, the research uses a field research approach with a normative-empirical perspective. The empirical aspect, which relates to the implementation of contract conversion, is the main focus of the study, while the normative analysis refers to the perspective of fiqh muamalat and the Fatwa of DSN-MUI. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews and documentation. The data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively to address the research questions. The research findings indicate that the conversion of conventional cooperatives to Islamic cooperatives in Padang Panjang City has been successful in terms of legal status. However, operationally, the conversion of contracts from conventional cooperatives to Islamic cooperatives at the Pegawai RI Serambi Mekah Islamic Consumers’ Cooperative, the KSPPS Sedar Sejahtera Mandiri, and the SMKN 2 Islamic Consumers’ Cooperative has not fully aligned with the principles of fiqh muamalat and applicable Islamic regulations. Non-compliance is evident in the loan conversion model implemented by the Pegawai RI Serambi Mekah Islamic Consumers’ Cooperative and the KSPPS Sedar Sejahtera Mandiri, which involved contract renewals and the addition of financing that do not comply with the Fatwa of DSN-MUI, SEBI, and AAOIFI Shariah Standards 6. Regarding deposit conversion, the practice of deposit savings at the Pegawai RI Serambi Mekah Islamic Consumers’ Cooperative is inconsistent with the provisions of fiqh muamalat and the Fatwa of DSN-MUI, and resembles riba practices, which are prohibited under Shariah. Other non-compliance issues were also found in profit-sharing deposits, which do not meet the fiqh muamalat requirements regarding the source of deposit funds. In contrast, the SMKN 2 Islamic Consumers' Cooperative successfully carried out the conversion in accordance with fiqh muamalat principles, AAOIFI Shariah Standard 6, and the Fatwa of DSN-MUI. The non-compliance found in the other cooperatives reflects part of the transition process from conventional cooperatives to Islamic cooperatives, rather than a failure in the implementation of the conversion program %Z Prof. Dr. H.
