abstract: Hadith memes are now a popular form of digital communication, especially in response to various issues that arise on social media, especially Instagram. One of the issues often raised through hadith memes is the danger of 'ain disease which is often associated with oversharing behavior, especially those involving photos or videos of children. This has triggered concerns about privacy and security.
This study aims to analyze how the hadith meme of 'ain disease is used as an effective communication medium to suppress oversharing behavior on Instagram. And as for the problem formulation of this research is as follows: First, How is the form of hadith 'ain used by @ittiba.id and @ukhtiakhiantiselfie accounts related to oversharing behavior?. Second, How do online communities (netizens) respond to the hadith 'ain meme associated with oversharing behavior?. And the third is how is the background behind the making of the hadith meme 'ain which is spread on social media instagram?. This research includes library research, while to answer the problems in the formulation of the problem, this research uses qualitative-documentation methods and uses the theory of critical discourse analysis from Norman Fairclough.
From this research it is concluded that: First, the forms of 'ain hadith memes on Instagram social media are quite diverse, (1) complete memes containing hadith text in Arabic and its translation, (2) memes containing only hadith translations, (3) memes conveying the essence of the hadith message without Arabic text or translation, and (4) memes containing quotes from figures or institutions without including hadith. The two accounts studied, @ittiba.id and @ukhtiakhiantiselfie, frequently used hadith memes are the first and second types, namely memes that display the full version of the hadith and hadith memes that only display the translation. Second, netizen responses to memes about hadith 'ain on Instagram social media on the accounts studied are divided into 3, namely positive responses, negative responses and neutral responses. Then, the background behind the creation of ʿĀin hadith memes is as an effective tool to suppress oversharing behavior, while aiming to strengthen religious authority, and discuss contemporary issues on social media.
