"This study will examine social criticism in the novella\r\nRijālu fī ash Shams by\r\nGhassan Kanafani. Researchers are interested in raising this topic because they\r\nwant to reveal the author's social criticism that reflects the era in the novella. This\r\nresearch was analyzed using the dialectic method with the approach of literary\r\nsociology Alan Swingewood. Issues to be discussed include social criticism\r\nreflecting the tim es, the process of creation of the novella Rijālu fī ash Shams,\r\nand the novella Rijālu fī ash Shams in relation to history, evidenced by several\r\nresponses from readers who have literary and historical backgrounds. Research\r\ndata in the form of sentences or paragraphs contained in the novella Rijālu fī ash\r\nShams by Ghassan Kanafani , as well as other supporting data from history books\r\nand readers' responses to the novella Rijālu fī ash Shams. Based on the results of\r\nthe analysis, the researcher found that ther e were several contents of the author's\r\nsocial criticism in the novella Rijālu fī ash Shams that reflected the conditions of\r\nPalestine after 1948, consisting of; First, the author's critique of refugee\r\nconditions and the struggle for decent living , second criticism of the ruling\r\nauthority, and third, criticism of political and economic irony. As for the process\r\nof creation, the novella Rijālu fī ash Shams by Ghassan Kanafani was created\r\nbased on humanitarian goals and the author's concern for the surroundi ng\r\nconditions. While in relation to history, judging from the response or response of\r\nreaders, this novella is stated to have relevance to the facts of Palestinian history\r\nafter 1948."^^ .
