"Religious moderation has become a crucial issue amid the\r\ndiversity of students at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta. As a\r\nmulticultural institution, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta faces the risk of\r\nintolerance, radicalism, and social polarization if the values of\r\nmoderation are not effectively applied. The principles of religious\r\nmoderation are essential for shaping inclusive, tolerant students capable\r\nof living harmoniously in society. However, its implementation often\r\nencounters challenges such as a lack of conceptual understanding and\r\nappropriate pedagogical approaches.\r\nThis study highlights the urgency of religious moderation in\r\nIslamic religious education at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta as an effort\r\nto foster harmony in diversity. Three main aspects are discussed in this\r\nresearch: (1) the paradigm of religious moderation in Islamic religious\r\neducation at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, (2) the process of\r\nimplementing religious moderation in Islamic religious education, and\r\n(3) the construct of religious moderation in Islamic religious education\r\nat Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta.\r\nThis research employs a qualitative approach with a case study\r\nmethod. The subjects of the study are Islamic religious education\r\nlecturers and students. Data were collected through observation,\r\ninterviews, and documentation. Data analysis followed the steps of data\r\ncondensation, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. Data\r\nvalidity was ensured using data triangulation techniques.\r\nThe findings reveal: (1) the paradigm of religious moderation in\r\nIslamic religious education at Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta is applied\r\nthrough inclusive, dialogical, and contextual approaches that integrate\r\nmoderation principles into the curriculum, teaching, and interfaith\r\nactivities. This approach aims to develop students who are tolerant and\r\ncommitted to justice and anti-extremism values. (2) The process of\r\nimplementing religious moderation in Islamic religious education\r\ninvolves interactive dialogue-based learning, critical studies, and\r\ncontextual approaches, including materials on tolerance and social\r\nharmony. Outside the classroom, religious moderation is practiced\r\nthrough student activities, interfaith seminars, and leadership training\r\nemphasizing inclusivity. The Tutorial PAI mentoring program also\r\nreinforces moderate religious understanding by involving various\r\nstakeholders to foster constructive dialogue. (3) The construct of\r\nreligious moderation in Islamic religious education at Universitas Negeri\r\nYogyakarta emphasizes a moderate, tolerant, and relevant interpretation\r\nof Islam through four pillars: national commitment, tolerance, antiviolence,\r\nand accommodation of local culture. Its implementation\r\nincludes curriculum, policies, student activities, and daily practices,\r\naiming to create \"Permissive Islamic Moderation\" that values diversity\r\nand promotes harmony.
