"The concept of Islamic religious education within the Outer\r\nBaduy Tribe is not systematically structured but is embedded within\r\ntheir philosophy of daily life. This understanding is practiced through\r\nreligious activities integrated into their natural way of life. For the Outer\r\nBaduy community, Islamic education provides guidance for a better life\r\nand fosters positive spiritual, social, and economic changes. This study\r\naims to explore and analyze the ontology, epistemology, and axiology\r\nof Islamic religious education as understood and practiced by the Outer\r\nBaduy community. Additionally, it seeks to examine and reconstruct the\r\nIslamic religious education practices of this unique community.\r\nEmploying qualitative field research methods, data collection\r\ninvolved observation, interviews, and documentation, focusing on\r\nmembers of the Outer Baduy community. The determination of research\r\nsubjects begins with using sampling techniques. The technique used in\r\nthis study is nonprobability sampling, which is called snowball\r\nsampling. Data analysis in this study uses an interactive model from\r\nMiles, Huberman, and Saldana, which are data collection, data\r\ncondensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions or\r\nverifications.\r\nThe findings reveal that, first, the Outer Baduy community’s\r\nconcept of Islamic religious education is deeply rooted in Islamic\r\nteachings, cultural values (pikukuh), and harmony with nature.\r\nOntologically, education is perceived as a natural and integral part of\r\ndaily life. Epistemologically, knowledge is derived from Islamic\r\nteachings, pikukuh, and experiential interaction with the natural world.\r\nAxiologically, education serves to preserve traditions, maintain\r\necological balance, and instill morality. The second finding is that these\r\npractices are carried out through informal, culturally grounded learning,\r\nutilizing sacred spaces (alaman wiwitan), emphasizing religious tolerance through multicultural education, and fostering collective\r\nactivities such as communal gatherings (ngariung).\r\nThis study offers a theoretical framework for Islamic education,\r\ntermed “Natural-Religious Education” (al-Thobi’iyyah al-Dīniyyah),\r\nwhich embodies a fusion of religiosity and cultural preservation. The\r\neducation system of the Outer Baduy Tribe reflects their deep\r\nconnection with nature, demonstrating that their cultural practices are\r\ninherently religious. This study reveals significant conceptual\r\nimplications. First, the philosophy of balance between nature and\r\nspirituality demonstrates that Islamic religious education plays a pivotal\r\nrole in shaping the Outer Baduy community’s perception of their\r\nreligious identity. This is particularly evident in the processes through\r\nwhich Islamic values are assimilated into customary traditions. Second,\r\nthe integration of philosophical principles within Islamic religious\r\neducation highlights the interconnectedness of reason, revelation, and\r\nexperience. Among the Outer Baduy community, experiential learning\r\nserves as a primary source of knowledge acquisition.
