ALI MAKSUM KRAPYAK YOGYAKARTA"^^ . "This research is motivated by the exploration of how the substantive concept\r\nof Integration-Interconnection based on the thoughts of KH. Ali Maksum can\r\nreform Islamic education at Pondok Pesantren Krapyak. Therefore, this study aims\r\nto identify several key aspects, including: 1) Identifying how the concept of\r\nIntegration-Interconnection in the reform of Islamic education is viewed from the\r\nperspective of KH. Ali Maksum, 2) Identifying the reasons, motives, or background\r\nbehind KH. Ali Maksum’s proposal for the reform of Islamic education, 3)\r\nAnalyzing how the concept of Integration-Interconnection can contribute to the\r\nreform of Islamic education at Pondok Pesantren Krapyak Yogyakarta.\r\nThis research employs a library research methodology, utilizing a historicalphilosophical\r\napproach. The primary data sources include the works of KH. Ali\r\nMaksum such as the kitab Hujjah Ahl As-Sunnah Wa Al-Jama’ah, books (Ajakan\r\nSuci), (An Authorized Biography: KH Ali Ma’shum: Ulama, Pesantren, dan NU),\r\nand (Catatan Seorang Santri). Meanwhile, the secondary data consists of interviews\r\nwith the family and students of KH. Ali Maksum during his lifetime. The validity\r\nof the data is tested using the Triangulation technique, and the data analysis is\r\nconducted through content analysis.\r\nThe results of this study indicate that: 1) KH. Ali Maksum rejected the\r\ndichotomy between disciplines and sought to create a curriculum that not only\r\nfocused on religious sciences but also incorporated general and social sciences.\r\nThrough this approach, he aimed to produce graduates who think critically,\r\ncontextually, and are able to make tangible contributions in various aspects of life.\r\n2) The educational reform carried out by KH. Ali Maksum at Krapyak Yogyakarta\r\nwas driven by the need to modernize the pesantren education system and align it\r\nwith contemporary demands. The study also reveals that KH. Ali Maksum\r\nsuccessfully created synergy between tradition and modernity, establishing\r\nPesantren Krapyak as an Islamic educational model that is deeply rooted in religious\r\nvalues while also being responsive to global dynamics. 3) His contributions not\r\nonly impacted the educational sphere but also extended to social-religious and\r\nsocio-political realms, where he played a role in steering Nahdlatul Ulama (NU)\r\nback to the Khittah 1926 and maintaining the integrity of the organization."^^ .
