"This research was motivated by the problems found in SMPN 5 Yogyakarta, there are still some students who say inappropriate and rude words, behave badly, and committing acts of bullying between friends. SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta which has a vision and mission to hone ethics, practice religious teachings and has a cultural focus that focuses on morals, but there are still problems in the formation of students' morals. It was chosen as the object of research to reveal and measure factors that can affect the morals of students. The objectives of the study are To find out the influence of personality competencies of PAI teachers and peer association on morals students at SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta.\r\nThis research method uses a quantitative approach with a survey research design. The variables in this study consist of three variables, namely the personality competency variable of Islamic religious education teachers (X1), the peer relationship variable (X2), and the moral variable of students (Y). The population in this study is all students in grade VIII of SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta which totals 316 and then a sample of 180 people is taken. This sampling technique uses proportionate stratified random sampling . The data collection instruments are through observation, interviews and questionnaires consisting of 25 items for the personality competency variable of Islamic religious education teachers (X1), and 27 for the peer interaction variable (X2), and 30 for the moral variable of students (Y). Data analysis using Multiple linear regression analysis. with the help of SPSS 25 for windows.\r\nThe results of the study showed that the Teacher Personality Competency (X1) possessed by Islamic religious education teachers at SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta was in the good category with a score of 32%. Peer Association (X2) owned by grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta is in the category of quite good with a score of 41%. The morals possessed by grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta are in the good category with a score of 37%. And there is an influence of the personality competence of Islamic religious education teachers and peer association on the morals of grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 5 Yogyakarta. The process of forming students' morals One of the external factors that affect it is the teacher, it can be understood that students in school will have good morals if first the teacher who educates them can set a good example. The teacher became a figure that was admired and imitated by students. In other words, teachers become role models for their students, Another external factor that affects the morals of students other than teachers is peers. Peer association can be interpreted as a social relationship between several individuals who have the same age and maturity stage. In this social environment, children can find various traits and characters from their friends with\r\ndifferent family backgrounds. In the association, there is a process of mutual influence between fellow students on the development of students' morals, because of the influence of conformity emphasized by peers on the temperament in a bond.
