"Mrican Landfill in Ponorogo is experiencing overload which has caused prolonged problems. Its ineffective management system causes pollution and contamination of the surrounding environment. As a result, people living around the Landfill feel the negative impact. The two most affected villages are Suling Village and Mrican Village. People in these two villages began to contract diseases and suffered significant economic losses. In 2022 they experienced crop failure due to their irrigation being contaminated with leachate water. Protests against their noble concerns emerged, but the government's lack of responsiveness led to disappointment. This disappointment led to reactions and resistance through a social movement called #SaveMrican. This movement was initiated by an alliance of students and farmers. This thesis aims to analyze the case that occurred at TPST Mrican as an implementation of the rise of public environmental awareness, especially among the grassroots.\r\nThis type of research is descriptive qualitative presented in narrative form. The researcher conducted a data collection process using observation, interview, and documentation methods. Mrican Landfill and the surrounding environment, namely Suling Village and Mrican Village, were chosen as research locations. Informants were selected through purposive sampling method which took several sectors from grassroots and policy makers totaling 11 people. After completing the data collection, the next step is to be comprehensively processed by being reduced, validated, and then presented.\r\nThis research uses the formulation of social movement theory and consciousness taken from several figures such as Sydney Tarrow, Anthony Giddens, Rajendra Singh, to psychological figures such as Carl Gustav Jung. The results of the analysis using this theory obtained several results. First, this movement arose due to a vertical conflict between grassroots and policy makers caused by the community's dissatisfaction with the method of solving problems at Mrican Landfill by the government. Second, this movement is categorized as a reactive and resistant social movement. Third, this social movement is a discursive awareness of the Landfill community towards the future of the environment where they live.
