This study aims to analyze the characterization of the Ni/Palm Shell Charcoal catalyst and convert the citral to E-citral through the mechanism of the citral isomerization reaction with the help of the Ni/Palm Shell Charcoal catalyst. The Ni/Palm Shell Charcoal catalyst was synthesized using the impregnation method, where Ni metal was impregnated against the catalyst carrying palm shell charcoal. The catalyst characterization was tested using FTIR spectrophotometry and XRD difractogram, while the products produced in the citral isomerization reaction with the help of the Palm Shell Ni/Charcoal catalyst were analyzed using GC-MS, antioxidant and antibacterial activity tests. The results showed that the catalyst Ni/Palm Shell Charcoal was successfully synthesized. The FTIR spectrum shows absorption at a wave number of 1064.28 cm-1 and the XRD diffraction pattern shows an intensity at a peak of 2θ = 40.58°; 44,8°; 45,27°; 46.5° and 2θ = 37.13°; 43,2°; 62.78° which indicates the presence of Ni metal. Based on the GC-MS test results, the concentration of E-Sitral before the isomerization reaction was 48.54%, while after the isomerization reaction catalyzed by Ni/Charcoal from Palm Shell, it increased to 50.33%. This increase indicates a rise in the composition of E-Sitral by 1.79%. Thus, this enhancement indicates that the isomerization reaction using Ni/Charcoal from Palm Shell catalyst has successfully increased the composition of E-Sitral effectively. %Z Priyagung Dhemi Widiakongko, M.Sc.
