Observations of the daily behavior of common water monitor lizards in the Yogyakarta Animal Village are still limited. Daily behavior is one of the indicators used in conservation efforts. This study aims to observe daily behavior, analyze the relative frequency, and duration of behavior of common water monitor lizards. The method used was focal animal sampling, two individuals of common water monitor lizards male and female aged 1.5 years. Observation for three weeks during the day (07.00-16.00) and night (18.00-04.00) days. Observed behaviors included eating, resting, moving, swimming/soaking, sunbathing, grooming, agonistic, and elimination. The results showed that the dominant daytime behaviors were resting (males 31%, females 33%) and moving (males and females 50%), with longer resting duration in males (18 minutes) than females (15 minutes). Basking behavior was significant (16% males, 15% females), while agonistic behavior (1%) was only observed in females during feeding. Male and female common water monitor lizards spent the night time resting. The conclusion of this study is that the dominant daytime behaviors of male and female common water monitor lizards are resting, moving, and basking. The behaviors with the longest duration during the day were resting (males) and basking (females). Overall, the observed behaviors were. date: 2024-12-19 date_type: published pages: 62 institution: UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA department: FAKULTAS SAINS DAN TEKNOLOGI thesis_type: skripsi thesis_name: other citation: Rufi’a Islamiatun, NIM.: 20106040015 (2024) PERILAKU HARIAN BIAWAK AIR TAWAR (Varanus salvator bivittatus Kuhl, 1820) DI KAMPUNG SATWA, MOYUDAN, SLEMAN, YOGYAKARTA.
