"Excessive use of residential detergents can generate hazardous waste for the environment, such as surfactants and phosphates, which are difficult to degrade and can promote eutrophication. Detergent waste must be treated before it is disposed of in the environment, one method being phytoremediation. Duckweed and water lettuce were chosen for their abilities to absorb organic and inorganic substances found in wastewater. This study focuses on increasing the quality of detergent wastewater using characteristics such as temperature, pH, BOD, COD, surfactant content, phosphate, and plant morphology. The study employed a randomized block design with differences in plant cover (25%:75%, 50%:50%, 75%:25%) and wastewater concentrations (10%, 20%, 30%). The research found that combining duckweed and water lettuce can reduce surfactant levels by up to 98% with 75% duckweed coverage and 25% water lettuce, as well as phosphate levels by 70% at a 20% waste concentration with 50% Mata lele coverage and 50% water lettuce. The most stable reduction in BOD occurs with a combination of 50% duckweed coverage and 50% water lettuce at a 10% concentration, while stable reduction in COD occurs with the treatment of 50% duckweed coverage and 50% water lettuce, as well as 25% duckweed and 75% water lettuce. At higher concentrations (30%), the plants show stress as indicated by leaf color changes, root decay, and a decrease in phytoremediation. The varied results for each parameter indicate that a single treatment combination cannot be used to determine the best outcome, but the combination of duckweed and water lettuce has proven capable of reducing the surfactant content in detergent wastewater."^^ .
