Both thinkers emphasise the importance of internal awareness as a solution to overcoming modern human alienation. This research has an urgency to be carried out because the two figures both raise the issue of modern human alienation with different backgrounds. The research questions of this thesis include how the concept of modern human alienation in the perspective of Erich Fromm and Seyyed Hossein Nasr, and how are the similarities and differences in the concept of modern human alienation from both? This research aims to map the concept of modern human alienation from the perspectives of Erich Fromm and Seyyed Hossein Nasr. The research method used is qualitative, relying on textual analyses of Fromm's primary works such as The Subject of Disobedience: Why Freedom Tends to Say "No" to Power and to Have or to Be, as well as Nasr's Between God, Man and Nature and Islam and the Nestapa of Modern Man. Then it is also assisted by relevant secondary sources so that this research data is literature research. The data is collected through documentation techniques, then processed descriptively and comparatively. The hermeneutic and historical approaches are used to explore the context behind the concept of alienation of modern humans from Fromm and Nasr. This research found that both Erich Fromm and Seyyed Hossein Nasr agree that modern humans experience significant alienation, caused by the dominance of material values that reduce the essence of humanity. Both identify that this alienation results in a loss of meaning in life as well as disharmonious relationships with oneself and the environment. However, there are fundamental differences in their approaches: Fromm highlights the influence of the socio-economic system as a source of alienation, while Nasr emphasises the impact of modern secular knowledge. Fromm offers solutions through structural changes and the inculcation of human values, while Nasr encourages a return to the true spiritual and epistemological dimensions. This research shows that despite the differences in perspectives, the two approaches can complement each other, creating a holistic framework of solutions to address modern man's crisis of alienation, with Fromm's approach being more externally expansive and Nasr's solution more internally profound. The findings enrich the understanding of modern human alienation by highlighting the similarities and differences between Western humanistic and Eastern parennial thought. %K Manusia Modern, Erich Fromm, Seyyed Hossein Nasr %D 2025 %I UIN SUNAN KALIJAGA YOGYAKARTA %L digilib70088
