Democratic leadership includes joint decision making, appreciating the potential of subordinates, listening to critical suggestions, and collaborating as indicators. While compensation includes salary, wages, intensive and bonuses as indicators and teacher performance includes classroom order, positive discipline, constructive feedback, attention and care, learner expectations, interactive activities, adaptive instruction, lesson instruction. The objectives of this study are: (1) To determine the effect of the principal's democratic leadership on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta (2) To determine the effect of compensation on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta (3) To determine the effect of the principal's democratic leadership and compensation on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta. This study uses a quantitative approach with a causal research type. The sample used was all permanent teachers at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta, totaling 40 people, who were determined through saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a structured questionnaire measured using a four-level Likert scale. Data analysis was conducted using correlation and multiple linear regression methods to test the influence between variables. The results showed that: (1) The t-test results show that the principal's democratic leadership has a significant effect on teacher performance at SMA Negeri 3 Yogyakarta. The t-count value of 4.186 with p-value = 0.000 <0.05 proves that the hypothesis (Ha₁) is accepted. It can be concluded that the higher the application of democratic leadership by the principal, the higher the teacher performance. (2) The t-test results show that compensation has a significant effect on teacher performance. The t-count value of 4.294 with a p-value = 0.000 <0.05 indicates that the hypothesis (Ha₂) is accepted. This shows that the increase in compensation received by teachers is directly proportional to the increase in their performance. (3) The results of the F test show that the principal's democratic leadership and compensation simultaneously have a significant effect on teacher performance. The F-count value of 36.968 with p-value = 0.000 <0.05 indicates that the hypothesis (Ha₃) is accepted. The R² value = 0.666 indicates that 66.6% of the variation in teacher performance can be explained by democratic leadership and compensation, while the remaining 33.4% is influenced by other factors not studied. %Z Prof. Dr. Imam Machali, S.Pd.I., M.Pd.
