Although there are pros and cons to this policy, the regulation focuses on creating a healthier and safer environment in accordance with the local cultural values of the community. This research aims to explore the problematic nature of the unclear alcohol categorization norms in the Indramayu local regulation, which is not specified in detail, even though alcohol is categorized in higher regulations. This research uses an empirical juridical method with a descriptive-analytical approach that focuses on direct observation of the implementation of this policy in the field. Primary data was collected through interviews with relevant parties, such as the Chairman of the DPRD, Satpol PP, and the local community. Secondary data was obtained from primary and secondary legal materials, including laws and regulations, legal literature, and other sources. The results show that Regional Regulation No. 15/2006 in Indramayu Regency aims to protect the public and maintain public order through the prohibition of alcoholic beverage distribution. However, supervision and law enforcement challenges still exist, with business actors violating the rules. Synergy between the government, law enforcement, and the community is needed to strengthen supervision. The community, especially laborers, support this regulation, but want stricter supervision and law enforcement. From a Maqashid Sharia perspective, the prohibition of alcohol is in line with the objectives of Islamic law in protecting the five aspects of life: religion, soul, mind, offspring, and property. Nonetheless, the effectiveness of this regulation largely depends on the consistency of law enforcement, community support, and periodic evaluation of the policy implementation. Therefore, better socialization and stricter supervision are needed to ensure the objectives of this regulation are optimally achieved.} }
