This choice reflects shifts in values and perspectives on traditional views of marriage and family. In the Islamic context, this decision raises discussions related to maqashid shariah, especially the aspect of preserving lineage as one of the essential needs (dharuriyat). This study explores the perspectives of Islamic Family Law (HKI) students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UII Yogyakarta regarding the childfree phenomenon. However, the decision to be childfree demonstrates a change in the life priorities of some individuals, emphasizing personal freedom, economic stability, or health reasons. Although considered controversial by some, this phenomenon cannot be separated from the dynamic social changes in the modern era. This study employed a descriptive-analytical approach with qualitative methods. Data were collected through interviews, questionnaires, and literature reviews involving students of the Family Law (HKI) program at UIN Sunan Kalijaga and UII Yogyakarta. Literature reviews were conducted to deepen the theoretical framework related to this topic, particularly in connection with maqashid al-shariah. A normative approach was also used to analyze students' views on the childfree phenomenon, especially regarding whether this decision aligns with or contradicts the principles of Islamic law. This study focuses on how economic, social, and religious factors influence individual perspectives on this issue. This method aims to understand the reasons behind their attitudes toward the issue, whether supportive or opposing. This study shows that in-depth religious education plays a crucial role in shaping perspectives on the childfree phenomenon by providing a more comprehensive understanding of sharia values. Additionally, open discussions among students need to be facilitated to uncover the background and reasons behind the decision to remain childfree, such as economic factors, health issues, or individual freedom. The findings reveal differing views among students; some support this phenomenon as a legitimate personal right, while others reject it, considering it inconsistent with religious teachings and social norms. By creating more inclusive dialogue spaces between young generations and religious authorities, it is hoped that a balanced understanding and a thoughtful response to this social change can be achieved %Z Taufiqurohman, M.H
