This is because the intermittent fasting or IF pattern is considered to be able to maintain ideal body weight and reduce the number of diseases caused by excessive food consumption. Given that the source of chronic diseases is born from food consumption, IF is present as one of the lifestyle patterns in the modern era. IF is a fasting pattern that comes from western theory which means fasting periodically. Before IF emerged and became a trend, it turned out that the fasting pattern was already known among Muslims such as in Qs. Abaqarah verses 183-187. The verse contains the obligation of fasting and the protocol for carrying it out according to sharia. Departing from this phenomenon, this thesis wants to contextualize the interpretation of fasting verses against the IF pattern itself. In this study, the author uses the perspective of Abdullah Saeed's contextual interpretation as his analytical tool. This study produced several findings, including the first, that the main goal of modern society in doing IF is to implement a healthy lifestyle by regulating eating patterns (fasting). IF itself is carried out by modern society as a form of maintaining ideal body weight and maintaining health from various diseases caused by poor diet. Second, IF in health theory has been proven to have many benefits such as improving the function of body organs including slowing down aging and can maintain physical and spiritual health. Third, contextualization of the interpretation of fasting verses in Qs. Al-Baqarah verses 183-187 regarding IF, namely: (1) mandatory values. The values in IF also teach mandatory values about piety to Allah, especially that IF can also be included in various forms of fasting in sharia including obligatory and sunnah fasting. IF itself teaches the value of piety where God also entrusts commands to maintain health in fasting verses. (2) fundamental values, that in the fasting verses IF contains maqashid to maintain religion, maintain reason, maintain soul and property. (3) in the value of protection so that IF fasting does not damage fundamental values, it must be adjusted to Islamic law, namely by continuing to delay breaking the fast and consuming healthy food and not excessively. (4) in the implementation value of IF, it must be done at least once a year, namely in the month of Ramadan, and is sunnah or recommended in the following months and days. IF itself can be applied in fasting Ramadan and other sunnah fasts, but if the sunnah fast is still considered difficult, then someone can do IF by only consuming water for 12 hours. In the sense that when fasting, someone does not include food and drinks with calories. (5) instructional value. In the Qur'an, Allah requires his people to fast for at least one month (Ramadan) to achieve spiritual health and physical health. Therefore, the command to fast in the Qur'an can certainly be instructed in IF so that someone remains in a healthy condition.
