Positive thoughts and feelings contribute to personal growth and development. This study aims to explore the development of self-concept and the factors shaping it through the application of the Q method among resident students memorizing the Quran at the Shalahuddin Al Ayyubi Quran Boarding School. The Q method is a systematic approach that emphasizes the integration of spiritual aspects, worship, self-reflection, goal-setting, and daily life planning. This study uses a descriptive approach with a qualitative method. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and document studies involving 17 resident Quran-memorizing students, with additional interviews involving significant others. The data was reduced and interpreted as part of the analysis to enhance the validity and objectivity of the study. The results showed that there was an improvement in the student’s self-concept, as evidenced by increased autonomy, competence, and better connections. The researcher found that the students possessed positive self-concepts, such as independence in making choices and evaluations, the ability to set goals and plans, and strong connections with others. Additionally, a new finding emerged regarding the concept of connection, which includes not only relationships with others but also connections with oneself and something greater, namely Allah. Factors such as spiritual commitment, support from the pesantren environment, the quality of student interaction with the Quran in educational activities, and consistent application of the Q method played important roles in shaping the student’s self-concept. The study concluded that resident Quran-memorizing students who followed the Q method experienced a more positive and stable development of their self-concept, alongside enhanced abilities, meaningful Quran memorization, increased spirituality, and discipline.
