This study aims to determine the role of self-efficacy and academic resilience in the engagement of first-year students in boarding schools. The research sample consisted of 169 first-year students from Madrasah Mu?allimin Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta. The study employed a quantitative correlational method using three research instruments: the Student Engagement Scale, the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Academic Resilience Scale. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression analysis. The results showed that, simultaneously, self-efficacy and academic resilience had a positive and significant role in student engagement (Sig. {\ensuremath{<}} 0.001), contributing an effective contribution of 22.7\%. Additionally, a partial analysis revealed a positive and significant role of self-efficacy in student engagement (Sig. {\ensuremath{<}} 0.001), with an effective contribution of 13.74\%. Furthermore, there was a positive and significant role of academic resilience in student engagement (Sig. {\ensuremath{<}} 0.001), contributing an effective percentage of 8.97\%. The implications of this study highlight the importance of developing first-year students' internal strengths as a modality to enhance their engagement in learning activities within the boarding school environment.} }
