"The market competition conditions, financial integration, and\r\neconomic openness encourage Islamic banking to enhance\r\ncompetitiveness and efficiency. Profitability is a measure to evaluate a\r\nbank's ability and performance in generating profit. This research aims to\r\nanalyze the development of market power, efficiency, and financial\r\nperformance of Islamic banking in Indonesia; to analyze the condition of\r\nIslamic banking in a collusive or efficient category. Then, the causal\r\nrelationship between market power, efficiency, and banking profitability\r\nwill be analyzed. Finally, to analyze the factors affecting the profitability\r\nof Islamic banking. This research uses panel data regression to determine\r\nwhether Islamic banks are in collusive or efficient conditions and to\r\nidentify the determinants of bank profitability, as well as using the panel\r\nVector Error Correction Model to analyze the causality of market power,\r\nefficiency, and profitability in Islamic banking. The results of this study\r\nshow that the market power of each bank is in a \"moderate\" competition,\r\nwith a tight oligopoly market structure. Islamic banking has a \"low\"\r\ntechnical efficiency and a \"moderate\" scale efficiency. Hypothesis tests\r\nof Structure Conduct Performance, Relative Market Power, Relative\r\nEfficiency Structure, and Scale Efficiency Structure indicate that Islamic\r\nbanking uses market power to increase profitability (the SCP theory\r\napplies). However, these results do not fully indicate collusion practices,\r\nbecause banks with the largest market shares have a low monopoly power\r\n(Lerner index). Another finding in this study shows that market power\r\nhas a very strong causal relationship with bank profitability, both in the\r\nshort-term and long-term compared to efficiency.
