The reason is that environmental destruction still occurs in many places and is never resolved. Lumajang district is an area that is facing ecological destruction to date. One of the places that has experienced destruction is the forest of Mount Lemongan. This mountain is located in Klakah sub-district, Lumajang district. Forest destruction in Mount Lemongan has been carried out since 1999 until now. Forests with protected status are destroyed by illegal logging, forest burning and planting of productive plants such as sengon. This condition prompted the formation of a reforestation movement known as the Laskar Hijau Movement. The movement aimed to reforest the vandalised forests of Mount Lemongan. In its endeavours, the movement faced various confrontations that led to conflict. This research has two objectives: first, to investigate the history of the formation and movement of the Laskar Hijau Movement; second, to analyse the triggers and conflict resolution efforts made by the movement using Jurgen Habermas' theory of communicative action. This type of research is qualitative philosophy, research that relies on field data findings that are integrated with a philosophical theory. This research uses observation, interview and documentation methods. In addition, the research also inventoried various literatures relevant to the research theme raised. The results that can be seen in this research include: first, the Laskar Hijau movement was formed based on conservation interests in the Mount Lemongan forest. The conservation interests of the movement conflicted with the economic interests of some opponents of the movement. The two interests triggered the emergence of confrontation and conflict; secondly, through the analysis of Jurgen Habermas' communicative action theory, the confrontation and conflict faced by this movement are rational because the communication applied by both parties is not intersubjective. Efforts to harmonise the two interests through communication are not carried out argumentatively and pressure-free, therefore the consensus formulated is only temporal, and the confrontations and conflicts that occur experience repetition. In addition, this research aims to provide a renewed discourse and theoretical narrative regarding the integration of philosophical theory with real phenomena in people's social lives. This research is also intended to enrich interdisciplinary studies that involve philosophy with other sciences such as social, economic, cultural and ecological.
