The purpose of this research is to explore the meaning of longing contained in the song through concepts such as denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings developed by Barthes then linked to Stuart Hall's representation theory. This research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Data was collected by means of document study, which includes searching and collecting information from relevant sources. The results of the semiotic analysis of the lyrics of the song ?Gala Bunga Matahari? show that denotatively, the songwriter is trying to convey a deep feeling of longing for someone who has died, as well as the desire to meet him even if only in a dream, which is described by the symbol of a sunflower. Connotatively, the songwriter feels a mixture of feelings between sadness and hope, because he cannot meet again with a loved one and hopes that the person will get a good life in the afterlife. Finally, in the mythical sense, the songwriter wants to convey a message about how strong the longing for someone who has died is, with the belief that prayers offered for that person's happiness can help and that life must continue with hope. This longing and sadness can be overcome by letting go, accepting, and believing} }
