N2  - Waste is a crucial issue in Yogyakarta that needs to be addressed immediately. The reason is that the waste accumulated due to the closure of the Piyungan landfill is now disposed of carelessly even to the edge of the highway. Therefore, the right strategy is needed. The environmental communication strategy model comes as a solution that is expected to be able to overcome the waste problem in DIY. This research aims to analyze and implement the DIY Department of Environment and Forestry (DLHK) 's environmental communication strategy model to overcome the waste problem. The environmental communication strategy model used is the KAP (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice) model. This research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. The results obtained in this study are the strategies carried out by DLHK DIY including Jakstrada, JPSM, and the Task Force for Accelerating the Implementation of Decentralized Waste Management which are implemented through a KAP-based environmental communication model strategy (Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice).
