Ngeri-ngeri Sedap exemplifies this by portraying the Batak worldview and life goals namely hamoraon (wealth), hagabeon (descendants), and hasangapon (honor), within the context of cultural disruption. Specifically, the film explores intergenerational conflicts between parents and children in Batak families, highlighting the tensions arising from evolving cultural dynamics. This study aimed to determine how viewers of Ngeri-ngeri Sedap interpret the film's portrayal of these Batak cultural values. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach and Stuart Hall's decoding theory, in-depth interviews were conducted with five informants selected through purposive sampling. Findings revealed that three informants held a dominant hegemonic position, aligning their interpretations with the film's messages. Conversely, the other two informants occupied a negotiated position, exhibiting discrepancies between their views and the film's content. Specifically, Meyta disagreed with the portrayal of female children's positions, while Jessica critiqued the perceived excessive emphasis on parental expectations and the rigid depiction of cultural customs. date: 2025-03-12 type: Thesis type: NonPeerReviewed format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/70678/1/21107030039_BAB-I_IV-atau-V_DAFTAR-PUSTAKA.pdf format: text language: id identifier: https://digilib.uin-suka.ac.id/id/eprint/70678/2/21107030039_BAB-II_sampai_SEBELUM-BAB-TERAKHIR.pdf identifier: Alya Assyifa Sagala, NIM.: 21107030039 (2025) ANALISIS RESEPSI KHALAYAK PENONTON FILM NGERI-NGERI SEDAP MENGENAI HAMORAON, HAGABEON, HASANGAPON.
