"The background of this research is based on the complexity of religious\r\nchallenges in the contemporary era which requires a moderate and inclusive Islamic\r\napproach. Islamic education has a strategic role in shaping the character of the\r\nyounger generation. Nurul Yaqin Islamic Boarding School in Pringsewu Lampung\r\nis seen as a potential institution in implementing wasathiyah Islamic education that\r\nis able to bridge the polarization of diversity. This study aims to explore the process\r\nof internalizing the values of wasathiyah Islamic education, analyze the\r\nimplementation strategy, and examine its impact on the character building of santri.\r\nThe research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data\r\ncollection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory\r\nobservation, and documentation. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman\r\ninteractive model with the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and\r\nconclusion drawing. Talcott Parsons' functional structural theory approach was\r\nused as a grand theory to dissect the phenomenon of internalizing wasathiyah\r\nIslamic values. Through this approach, researchers sought to gain an in-depth\r\nunderstanding of the strategy of internalizing moderate values at Nurul Yaqin\r\nIslamic Boarding School, taking into account the social, cultural, and institutional\r\ncontexts surrounding the practice of pesantren education.\r\nThe results showed that the internalization of wasathiyah Islamic values at\r\nNurul Yaqin Islamic Boarding School was carried out through four main strategies.\r\nFirst, an integrative curriculum that synergizes religious education and modern\r\nskills. Second, the example of the caregivers and ustadz. Third, habituation of a\r\ntolerant and dialogical attitude. Fourth, extracurricular activities that encourage\r\nreligious moderation. The research findings reveal the significance of the\r\nwasathiyah approach in shaping the moderate, critical, and transformative character\r\nof santri. This research provides theoretical contributions to the development of the\r\nconcept of moderate Islamic education and practical contributions for religious\r\neducation institutions in facing the challenges of radicalism and intolerance."^^ .
