        abstract = {The Constitution guarantees the right of every citizen to equal treatment before the law. Legal aid is the right of every citizen to gain access to justice and receive equal protection of the law. Meanwhile, at the level of implementation, the implementation of legal aid in the city of Tasikmalaya is still neglected, so that many poor people have difficulty obtaining legal aid due to limited access and high costs. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the condition of legal aid for the poor, the obstacles faced, and the efforts that can be made to improve access to justice for the poor.
This type of research is empirical legal research, using a justice approach in the implementation of legal aid, which is supported by the principle of legal certainty and maqashid shari'ah. The data collection techniques in this research are field and literature studies, for field data the author conducts observations, interviews, and documentation. While the data analysis method used in this research is descriptive-qualitative method.
The results showed that the implementation of legal aid for the poor in Tasikmalya City was still unfulfilled and unbalanced. The implementation of legal aid in Tasimalaya City still experiences high costs, and low service quality. In addition, legal aid institutions also experience obstacles, such as limited resources and support from the government. To improve access to justice for the poor, a collaborative strategy is needed between legal aid institutions and local governments to support increased access to information, provision of affordable legal aid services, improve the quality of legal aid services to the community in order to provide a positive response and realize aspects of expediency, justice and legal certainty for the people of Tasikmalya City.}
