The implementation of this regulation is expected to protect the economic and moral rights of artists. However, its effectiveness in Gunungkidul Regency itself is still low, which is reflected in the minimal legal protection for dance works. This can be seen from the data showing that out of around 60 existing art studios, not a single dance work is registered with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham). Therefore, to see the factors that influence the effectiveness of the implementation of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright for dance studio works in Gunungkidul Regency, the main problem in this study is how effective the implementation of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright is for dance studio works in Gunungkidul Regency and the efforts made by dance studio artists in Gunungkidul Regency in protecting their works. This research employs a field study method supported by a literature review and an empirical juridical approach, which examines the effectiveness of the implementation of the Copyright Law on dance art among artists. Data is collected through interviews with representatives from the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Yogyakarta, the Gunungkidul Department of Culture, and local artists. Additionally, this study utilizes secondary data obtained from various sources, such as books, journals, the internet, and relevant documents, which are systematically analyzed. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of Law Number 28 of 2014 concerning Copyright for dance studio works of art in Gunungkidul Regency has not been effective. The contributing factors include the lack of regulatory enforcement, weak coordination between the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of Yogyakarta and the Gunungkidul Department of Culture, the complexity of the copyright registration process, limited assistance for artists, and low awareness among artists. Furthermore, traditional dance is often perceived as a collective cultural heritage rather than a creation requiring legal protection. To safeguard their works, artists rely on documentation and publication through digital platforms, seek moral rights recognition, and actively participate in festivals. Artists hope that the government will enhance copyright education and socialization, simplify the registration process, and provide a digital platform to archive dance works in Gunungkidul.} }
