The role of the Kiai in pesantren leadership is crucial, especially in fostering students? discipline through a charismatic leadership style characterized by authority, exemplary conduct, and a strong influence on followers. However, in practice, some students are still negligent in performing religious obligations, lack discipline in their studies, and show irresponsibility in carrying out assigned tasks. Some also fail to manage their time effectively and lack discipline in maintaining cleanliness and participating in pesantren activities. This phenomenon highlights the gap between the expected and actual implementation of disciplinary culture. This study aims to understand the implementation of Kiai M. Syakir Ali?s charismatic leadership style in shaping the disciplinary culture among students at Pondok Pesantren Pangeran Diponegoro Yogyakart. The findings of this study are expected to contribute to pesantren management in enhancing leadership strategies for fostering student discipline. This research employs a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation and analyzed descriptively to uncover leadership patterns and their impact on establishing a disciplinary culture within the pesantren. The findings indicate that student discipline is shaped through structured and consistent routines in religious practices, cleanliness, and learning. Kiai Syakir Ali implements charismatic leadership through exemplary behavior, persuasive communication, and a balanced approach between firmness and wisdom. Other influencing factors include pesantren facilities, students' family backgrounds, and social interactions among students. This study provides insights into the role of charismatic leadership in fostering a culture of discipline and developing students' independence and responsibility.
