AL-A’RAF AYAT 80-84 DAN KORELASINYA DENGAN PERILAKU HOMOSEKSUAL (STUDI KOMPARATIF KITAB TAFSIR IBNU KASIR DAN TAFSIR AL-MUNIR) %X This study examines the term faḥisyah and its correlation with homosexual behavior in QS. Al-A'raf verses 80-84 through a comparative approach to Tafsir Ibnu Kaṡir and Tafsir Al-Munir. The objective of this research is to analyze and compare the interpretations of these two tafsir books. The method used is tafsir muqarin (comparative method) by examining how Ibnu Kaṡir and Wahbah az-Zuhaili interpret the verse based on their scholarly backgrounds and exegetical approaches. Data were collected through library research and analyzed qualitatively. The term faḥisyah (indecency) in the Qur’an carries three main meanings: adultery, homosexuality, and lesbianism. This study primarily focuses on interpreting faḥisyah as homosexuality, as conveyed in QS. Al-A'raf verses 80-84. Homosexuality remains a widely discussed issue from various perspectives, including tafsir studies. Understanding the interpretations of both classical and contemporary mufassir is essential to examine how the meaning of this verse is explained in different contexts. A significant difference between these two tafsirs lies in their methodology and systematic explanation; Tafsir Ibnu Kaṡir focuses on tafsir bil ma’tsūr, which relies on hadith and historical reports, whereas Tafsir Al-Munir combines tafsir bil ma’tsūr and bil ma’qūl with a more contextual and structured analysis. The findings reveal that both Tafsir Ibnu Kaṡir and Tafsir Al-Munir agree that homosexuality is an immoral act al-faḥisyah that contradicts human nature and led to divine punishment upon the people of Prophet Luth. However, Tafsir Ibnu Kaṡir, using the tafsir bil ma’tsūr approach, states that faḥisyah in this verse refers to a behavior never practiced before, specifically same-sex relationships between men (homosexuality), which is considered an excessive and foolish act because it places things out of their natural order. On the other hand, Tafsir Al-Munir, as a contemporary tafsir, explains that faḥisyah refers to a deviation from natural relationships, shifting towards same-sex interactions through the anus (homosexuality). This behavior is seen as contradicting human nature due to the lack of sexual attraction towards women. Moreover, the people of Prophet Luth committed these acts openly and proudly, without any sense of shame. %K Homoseksual, QS.
