%T USTAZ YUSUP BIN LAI DAN KONTRIBUSINYA DALAM MENGEMBANGKAN ISLAM DI DAERAH DARO, NEGERI SARAWAK, MALAYSIA TAHUN 2014-2021M
%X The majority religion and primary faith in Malaysia is Islam. On the other hand, Sarawak, which lies in eastern Malaysia, is predominantly populated by Christians, with Muslims making up the second largest minority. In Daro, a small area in Sarawak, the spread of Islam is slightly slower than in other places. Owing to a lack of exposure, there is relatively little knowledge about Islam. Daro is harder to get to because it is situated in a suburban region and is not connected to the main land. The presence of Islamic intellectuals such as Ustaz Yusup serves as a springboard for the expansion of Islamic da'wah in that region. This study was conducted since there hasn't been any hard research done on Islam or Islamic scholars in Daro before. An analysis of Ustaz Yusup's biography and his contribution to the growth of Islam's da'wah since his arrival in Daro is another major emphasis of this study.
This study describes the biography of the person under study from background and professional characteristics using the theory of historical research. The significance of Ustaz Yusup Bin Lai to the spread of Islam in the Sarawak region of Daro is explained using a sociological historical method. Heuristics, verification, interpretation, and historiography are the four stages of historical methodologies that were used in this research.
The study's findings lead to the conclusion that Ustaz Yusup's early contributions to preaching included Islamic da'wah, such as religious lectures, courses on the Hajj and Umrah, janaza management, and zakat. Subsequently, these da'wahs evolved and had a big social impact. Ustaz Yusup was nevertheless able to make a contribution to this small area even though it was challenging to get to and there were numerous challenges to overcome. The outcomes of Ustaz Yusup's da'wah initiatives have improved society overall, but particularly in the Daro region.
