Responding to the problem of low problem solving skills in learning Physics, a solution is needed that can improve the learning process to improve students' problem solving skills. Problem Based Learning is a model that uses daily life problems as the main material to help students develop problem solving skills. This research aims to 1) Knowing the effectiveness of the Problem Based Learning model with the brainstorming method on improving students' problem solving skills on global warming material, 2) Knowing the increase in students' problem solving skills using the Problem Based Learning model with the brainstorming method on global warming material. This research uses a type of quasi experiment with a nonequivalent control group design. The sampling technique used purposive sampling technique. The samples of this study were class X E1 as the control class and class X E2 as the experimental class. The data collection instrument is a 10-item description test instrument. The increase in students' problem solving skills can be seen from the results of the difference in students' pretest and posttest scores. The results of this study are 1) the effect size results obtained were 0.961 and included a large category. It is concluded that the Problem Based Learning model with the brainstorming method has a great influence in this study on improving students' problem solving skills. 2) The results of increasing problem solving skills on the N-Gain value with a percentage increase in the experimental class using the Problem Based Learning model with the brainstorming method of 46.32% are included in the medium category. While in the control class that used the Direct Instruction model the percentage was 14.34% so that it was included in the low category in improving problem solving skills.
