"This research examines the role of madrasah leadership in enhancing teacher\r\ncompetence and identifies the factors that support and hinder this improvement\r\nprocess at MTs TQ El-Muna Q Pajangan, Bantul. This research is based on ± 73%\r\nof teachers who have formal education backgrounds outside the field of education,\r\nresulting in various obstacles in carrying out their duties during the learning\r\nprocess. The main focus of this research is to identify the role of leadership in\r\nimproving teacher competence.\r\nThis research uses a qualitative approach, with data collection techniques including\r\ninterviews, observations, and documentation. The informants in this study consisted\r\nof the head of the madrasah, the vice curriculum, and 2 class teachers. The data\r\nanalysis technique from Miles and Huberman includes data collection, data\r\ncondensation, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The method for verifying\r\nthe authenticity of data employs source and technique triangulation, a process that\r\nentails the comparison of data from diverse methods and sources.\r\nThe research results indicate that the head of the madrasah plays a role in seven\r\naspects of leadership: educator, manager, administrator, innovator, motivator,\r\nsupervisor, and leader. This role is crucial for enhancing the four main competencies\r\nof teachers: pedagogical, professional, personal, and social competencies. The head\r\nof the madrasah not only provides guidance, supervision, and training but also\r\nbuilds a collaborative work environment, gives recognition, and fosters a culture of\r\ninnovation in the madrasah. Supporting factors in improving teacher competence\r\ninclude high teacher motivation, a conducive work environment, a culture of\r\nknowledge sharing, and stakeholder support. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors\r\ninclude the mismatch of non-linear educational backgrounds, limited facilities, dual\r\nworkloads, and limited development time.
