This case is in the spotlight because it involves hundreds of victims and raises questions about the extent to which legal protection for catering service consumers has been implemented in accordance with the provisions of Law Number 8 of 1999 concerning Consumer Protection. This study aims to examine the form of legal protection provided to consumers, as well as the form of losses experienced by consumers. The research method used is empirical juridical, with a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were obtained through a literature study of laws and regulations and legal documents, as well as field studies involving interviews with victims, catering business actors, village government officials, and related agencies such as the Health Service, Jamkesda and the Bantul Regency Government. The results of the study indicate that there have been material and immaterial losses. The form of material losses felt by the local government in the form of coverage of victim care costs through BTT and Jamkesda while immaterial losses are felt by the victims in the form of physical suffering due to poisoning so that they need to undergo inpatient and outpatient care. The results of the study have also shown that preventive and repressive protection efforts have been made.
